What's going on
There's an account in Japan that has spent years doing what it calls "face-wash impressions": photos taken mid-wash, covered in lather, impersonating whatever comes to mind. Over time the lineup has included comedians, a TV personality, a famously unsmiling rugby player, a sumo grand champion, a sea slug, a dinosaur and a train.
The latest entry is a foam-covered hand doing an impression of a foot. It is a hand. The people who saw it are having a hard time accepting this. The thumbnail passes for a big toenail, the wrist bone sits right where an ankle would be, and more than one viewer assumed the joke was simply someone washing their foot.
The reactions come first, followed by a handful of earlier entries from the same series.
